Sandra Armstrong, Mayor
Sandra Armstrong, originally from Mansfield and Pontefract, began her career in her grandparents’ hotel after attending Sieur de Coulonge high school. In 1987, she joined the Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ), before being transferred to Gatineau in 1998, where she worked for twelve years.
Mayor Gilles Dionne having decided not to seek re-election, Sandra ran for mayor. Following her victory, she was appointed pro-prefet on the MRC Pontiac mayors’ council, a role that involved assuming the duties of warden Jane Toller in her absence.
Sandra’s tenure was marked by challenges, including the recent floods, which she overcame with resilience, leading recovery initiatives. In addition, her tenure celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Mansfield Brigade, highlighting her commitment to the community’s heritage.
